FAISALABAD: At least five people were killed on Wednesday when two armed groups opened fire on each other after a dispute emerged regarding irrigation water.
The exchange of fire also injured two other people.
Police sources said the incident took place in the Gogeera area of Faisalabad.
Police added that members of the Nawaz Sahi group were watering the fields when four men on motorcycles opened fire on the group.
Member of the Sahi group also retaliated resulting in the deaths of three people.
Injured were shifted to the local civil hospital for medical treatment where two of the injured died while under treatment.
The local police reached the site and started their investigations after taking the bodies in their custody.
