Pakistan does not import Agri-Tech from Argentina

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for National Food Security & Resources Rajab Ali Baloch on Thursday said that Argentine government had not provided technologies to Pakistan for development of agriculture sector. 

Speaking in the National Assembly during question hour, he said that no technology had also been utilized for the production of Soybean in the country. 

However, the Parliamentary Secretary said that Pakistan was in contact with other countries and international institutions for their support and sharing of experiences. 

He said the present government took numerous steps since last four years for the development of agriculture sector including decreases of prices in fertilizer and electricity units. 

Prime Minster, he said had also announced farmer's package to compete with the other countries in the production of wheat. 

The agriculture sector had been devolved to provinces and they could do better for the development of the sector, he added. 

He said that Pakistan was not utilizing much funds on research as compared to other countries adding that Pakistani researchers had introduced more than hundred types of seeds in wheat crop.
