The Food Department will start wheat procurement drive in Faisalabad division from April 20. A spokesman of the Food Department said here Tuesday that all arrangements for launching wheat procurement drive were being finalized while issuance of Bardana to growers would be started from April 15.
He said that 5.04 million bags of wheat would be purchased from Faisalabad division at the rate of Rs 1300 per 40 kilogram. The growers would have to pay Rs 9 per bag as delivery charges, he added.
Sargodha: Over 134,000 metric tonnes of wheat will be purchased in the district under the Punjab government wheat purchase scheme 2017 for which all arrangements have been finalised.
This was disclosed in a meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha. The meeting was told that 13 wheat purchase centres have been established including two each for tehsils Bhalwal and Sargodha, three each for tehsil Kotmomin and Silanwali, while one each for tehsils Bhera and Sahiwal.
It was disclosed in the meeting that 1.12 million polypopline bags and 327,000 gunny bags would be distributed among farmers. —APP
