The Pakistan Vision 2025 would focus on designing water, food and energy policies and plans in coordination with all the stakeholders with specific reference to the profound challenges posed by the climate change.
According to a working paper prepared by the Ministry of Climate Change, the Pakistan Vision 2025 would help move towards promoting long-term sustainability, conservation and protection of natural resources besides explicitly recognising relevant risks and implementing well-defined mitigation and adaptation measures.
The Vision also underlines the low technical and financial capacity to mitigate the effects of climate change and recommends mobilising financial and technical support from global financing sources such as Green Climate Fund; and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA).
It stated that the climate change has already begun to impose steep social and economic costs, including high intensity floods (flash floods and glacial lake outburst floods), avalanches and land-slides; persistent drought, sea water intrusion, and cyclone.
Moreover, the Vision focuses on adoption of innovative technological solutions to solve the climate change challenges of mitigation for reduction of Green House Gases (GHG) emissions in the energy including industries and buildings; agriculture and livestock; forestry; and transport sectors.
