Provision of
land to people affected by dam ordered
ISLAMABAD-President Pervez Musharraf has instructed the
provincial governors to ensure immediate provision of land to
those affected by the construction of Tarbela Dam as per the
distribution done by the federal government.
This was informed by the Principal Secretary to the President,
Tariq Aziz, to a delegation of tribal elders of Kala Dhaka,
NWFP, headed by Zar Gul Khan, former MNA, who called on him
here on Friday to discuss certain matters and problems related
to their area, specially the issue of Tarbela Dam victims.
The principal secretary gave them the assurance that their
grievances would be considered and the concerned departments /
agencies would be instructed to quickly redress them.
He also informed them that the president was very concerned
about the welfare of their area and had personally instructed
the governors to ensure immediate provision of land to those
hit by Tarbela Dam construction as per the distribution done
by the federal government.
The delegation asked the principal secretary to convey their
gratitude to the president for the concern shown by him for
the people of their area. They reiterated their faith in the
leadership of Gen Pervez Musharraf and expressed full
confidence in his policies. They also pledged their full
support and total cooperation for the president in the
forthcoming referendum and invited him to visit Kala
Dhaka.-APP
